Pirates edge closer to .500 mark with overtime win

Teresa Moenkedick pumped in a whopping 32 points as the Verndale Pirates set themselves up for a shot at the .500 mark by topping New York Mills 68-65 Friday in a Park Region Conference tilt.

Jordy Schluttner and Jordyn Glenz backed up Moenkedick with 15 and 13 points respectively.

Abbe Hendickx led the Eagles with 18 tallies while Ellie Rutten scored 17 and Jenna Esala netted 10.

The two clubs were tied 29-all at the half and 56-all at the end of regulation. Glenz sent the game into overtime with a field goal with less than five seconds remaining.

The Pirates improved to 9-10 overall an 5-5 in the PRC. The Eagles dropped to 2-8 in conference play and 2-16 overall.
