Pheasant index unchanged despite setbacks
Minnesota's pheasant index remains unchanged from 2009 but is 22 percent below the 10-year average, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
Contributing factors to the below-average index include:
The most severe winter in the farmland region of Minnesota since 2001, resulting in hen counts 28 percent below the 10-year average.
