Services were held for Patty Greenwood on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Wadena, Minnesota with Pastor Steven Meltzer officiating. The hymns were sung by the congregation, accompanied by Jodee Finn. The honorary pallbearers were Pattys godchildren, Jeremy Rach and Marsha Kaufmann and the Wadena County Mounted Posse. Patty was laid to rest in Wadena City Cemetery, Wadena, Minnesota.
Patricia "Patty" Fayette Greenwood was born on July 28, 1969 in Wadena, Minnesota to Richard and Fayette (Zaske) Kovar. Patty was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Wadena. She attended the Wadena High School and graduated from Northwest Technical College specializing in cosmetology. From 1985 to 1998 Patty was married to Joe Brown. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Bobbi Jo and David. Patty returned to Northwest Technical College and furthered her education with a medical degree in administration. On April 28, 2001 Patty was united in marriage with Steven Kent Greenwood at Zion Lutheran Church in Amor, Minnesota. She was employed with Tri-County Hospital in physical therapy and most recently as a supervisor at the Share House in New York Mills.
Patty loved her horses, she enjoyed camp-out trail rides in Huntersville and Maplewood State Park and was an active member of the Heart of the Lakes Saddle Club, CMHIA and the Wadena County Mounted Posse. She loved outdoor activities, sand volleyball and began deer hunting with her father at the age of 13.
In September of 2010 Patty was diagnosed with cancer. With the love and support of her family and friends Patty fought a courageous battle. On November 18, 2013 Patty passed away at her home surround by her family and the care of hospice at 44 years or age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Patty is survived by her loving husband, Steven Greenwood; daughter, Bobbi Jo Brown; son, David and his wife, Nicki Brown; her parents Richard and Fayette Kovar; Steve's parents, Paul and Maggie Greenwood; 3 sisters: Kathy (Dave) Biel, Nancy (Harry) Rach and Mary Lou (Randy) Camenzind; brother, Dan and his wife Jane Kovar; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
Arrangements are provided by Karvonen & Son Funeral Home of New York Mills, Minnesota.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Lake Region Cancer Research in Fergus Falls.
