Emily Miron hit a three from the top of the key early in the second half Thursday and made a place for herself in the exclusive 1,000-point club.

The 6-2 junior center finished the night with 26 points, 12 rebounds and eight blocked shots.

Miron had 15 of the 22 points she needed by the half and when she was three points short WDC Head Coach Keith Ferris called a three-point play designed to get Miron the ball at the top of the key.

"She can shoot from the outside," Ferris said. "I had the confidence in her to hit it."

Avery Jackson, the team's only senior, canned 10 points.

Caitlin Volkmann played a strong floor game for the Wolverines coming up with nine assists.

Miron joins Courtney Volkmann, Kerby Johnson, Rhonda Birch, Lynn Piepkorn and Marissa Browne in WDC's 1,000-career points club.

"It was definitely a goal and it felt really good," Miron said. "I'm really glad I got it and now I can focus on the rest of the season."

Miron was moved to the varsity ranks midway through her freshman season.

Katie Klein led the Panthers with seven points.
