The Celebration of Life Open House for Patricia Miller, 65, of Wadena will be held on June 22, at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Wadena, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 3:30 p.m. and Pastor Vaughn White presiding. Pat passed away on Sunday May 26, 2013 at Fair Oaks Lodge, after a long and courageous battle with glioblastoma brain cancer.
Patricia Jean Miller was born on January 28, 1948 in Denver, Colorado to Lloyd and Maxine (Johnson) Miller. Pat spent her early childhood years on the family ranch in Fredonia, Texas. In 1954 the family moved to Minnesota where Pat graduated from Bertha-Hewitt High School in 1966. Pat graduated from York College in Nebraska with an associates degree and finished her degree at St Cloud State University with a double major in Early Childhood Development and Family Counseling.
Pat lived in many states including California, Utah, Colorado, and Texas where she married August Stoecker September 4, 1981. While living in Fredericksburg, Texas she was the director of Gingerbread House and Bethany Pre-school.
Pat returned to Minnesota in 1989 and lived in the metro area, until approximately 1992 when she moved to Wadena and worked at OTWCA in New York Mills at various positions in the agency. She retired in 2012 due to illness. Pat spent the last years in her home in Wadena with her significant other, Daniel Piere, and her beloved dog Abe.
Friends and family will remember Pat for her gardening, cooking, collecting teacups and entertaining with flair and panache! Pat loved spending time with her nephews Eric,Travis and Marshall which precipitated her move back to Minnesota. Pat became "Auntie Mom" to Eric.
Pat was preceded in death by parents Lloyd and Maxine, nephew Kyle, maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and ex-husband Auggie.
Pat is survived by sister Pamela (Dennis) Sandberg of Bertha/Paso Robles, Ca; sister Paula Mishler of Hewitt; Nephews Eric, Troy, & Todd Sandberg; Travis & Marshall Mishler; niece-in-law Laura Sandberg; uncles Don (Marcella); Clinton (Lou Clare) Johnson of Eagle Bend, and many family and friends. She is also survived by Daniel Piere her significant other.
Honorary pallbearers will be Pats nephews and cousins.
Pats ashes will be buried at Hope Cemetery in Eagle Bend, between her parents, and some scattered at Waggum Cemetery on the graves of paternal grandparents Mimi and Papa Miller in Texas.
