Ophelia Katie Lehner, 88, of rural Nimrod, died Saturday, April 11, 2009, at Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena.
She was born to Francis (Frank) and Katie (Hills) Blanchard in Hope, N.D., on Aug. 18, 1920. As a child, she lived in Huntersville Township, Wadena County, and attended country school near the town of Huntersville. She married Ernest John Lehner on Dec. 10, 1939. This union was blessed with three sons, Raymond, Calvin and Clyde. She and Ernest farmed in the in the Nimrod area until 1985 when they moved to Wadena. She worked at the Bedora Tree Nursery and taught Sunday School for many years at Nimrod Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening and cooking, she also loved playing cards with her many relatives and friends. She was a member of the Crow Wing Park Ladies Club. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 17 at Sebeka United Methodist Church with the Rev. Loren Ferch officiating. Honorary pallbearers include: Echo Aquirre, Jessie Beach, Justin Beach, Rory Lehner and Ryan Lehner. Active casketbearers are: Ron Alwin, Mickey Daniels, Roger Estabrooks, Delbert Huttunen, Marc Simpson and Randy Siemsen. Interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Wevley Funeral Home of Sebeka.
Survivors include two sons, Raymond Lehner, of Nimrod, and Calvin (Dee) Lehner Dee of Sebeka; sister, Doris Simpson, of Menahga; special friend, Lillian Balsley; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest; son, Clyde; five sisters, Clarissa Dexter, Arvelda Hendrickson, Luella Randall, Verol Estabrooks and Zelma Kimball; and two brothers, William and Delmar Blanchard.
