Winfred "Ole" Warren Johnson, 91, passed away June 18, 2009, in the Lakewood Care Center in Staples.
He was born Oct. 31, 1917, to George and Lettie (Rasmussen) Johnson in Henning. He married Dorothy Mildred Borchers on Feb. 6, 1942, in South Dakota. He worked as a manager at the Astro Aluminum Heat Treating Plant. He spent 37 years in Deer Creek and 35 years in California, before retiring and moving to the Deer Creek and Wadena area for his last 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, Twins baseball, "inventing" and working in his yard.
Memorial services were held on Tuesday, June 23, in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Deer Creek with the Rev. Gunard Heikkila officiating. Interment was in the Inman Cemetery. Arrangements were with the Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena (www.johnsonmemorialhome.com).
Survivors include his loving wife, Dorothy; son, Mark, of California; daughter, Mary Ellen Johnson, of Illinois; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his sister, Olive Peterson of Henning.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lettie; his brothers, Raymond, Gerald and Douglas; and sisters, Ruby Anderson, Lucille Hamilton and Francis Tellock.
