Make-up day for Verndale school set for Jan. 21

On Jan. 6 Verndale School did not hold classes due to extreme cold winter weather. That day will be made up Tuesday, Jan. 21 from 8:20 a.m. to 3:06 p.m.

No injuries in Blueberry Township fire

A structure fire shortly before 7 p.m. Jan. 8 in Blueberry Township. Upon the arrival of the Menahga Fire Department, a detached garage/shop was fully involved in fire. The Sebeka Fire Department was called to assist in fighting the fire with the temperature being near -20 at the time of the fire.

Nobody was injured in the fire and the cause is still under investigation.

The Menahga Police Department and Tri-County Ambulance also assisted on scene.

Blue Line Bids fundraiser on tap Feb. 1

The Wadena Hockey Association will be holding its 15th Annual Blue Line Bids fundraising event Saturday, Feb. 1st beginning with a social hour at 6 p.m. The silent and live auctions and raffle events will commence at 7 p.m. with the drawing for the $10,000 grand prize at 10 p.m. This year's theme is "Together, We Stand Strong."

Admission is free and there will be a meat raffle, booze wagon raffle and several other raffles in addition to the auctions. There will also be a dance with a deejay beginning at 10 p.m.

Amateur radio classes begin Jan. 27

The Wadena area amateur radio club is offering free classes for technicians Mondays from 7 to 9 p.m., beginning Jan. 27 and will run for six weeks. Participants must provide their own technician book. Classes will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bertha.

WISE to be held Feb. 14

Wellness in the woods will be hosting the WISE (Wellness Information for Seniors Event) at Humphrey Manor in the dining room Feb. 14 from 1 to 5 p.m. There will be door prizes, refreshments and numerous providers who will give seniors and their family information on staying healthy. Admission is free.

Beekeepers meeting set for Jan. 20

The North central Beekeepers will hold their January meeting at the Northland Arboretum Jan. 20 at 7 p.m. in Baxter. The program will be the repair, assembly and maintenance of beekeeping equipment. Orders for spring bees will be taken at the meeting.

The beekeepers meet each month at 7 p.m. at the Arboretum. the meetings are free and open to the public.
