Medicare informational meeting Jan. 23
UCare will host the following informational meetings about its UCare for Seniors health plan options. The meeting at the Wadena location will be Thursday, Jan. 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the AmericInn Lodge and Suites.

New website for MOMS launched Jan. 1
The Minnesota Official Marriage System (MOMS), a subcommittee of the Minnesota Association of County Officers (MACO), has partnered with Olmstead County ITS as the new service level provider for the system. Olmstead County ITS will provide hosting services and support for the MOMS from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31. The new MOMS site address is www.MOMS.mn.gov.
In addition to providing ongoing support services the collaboration for future enhancements may include an eMarriage applicaiton, credit card functions by individual counties, marriage officiant ordination index and MDVA military discharge project.
MOMS is a collaborative website with all 87 counties in Minnesota participating. The system was developed in 2008. MOMS functions as an index for customers to find information on the location of marriage records. Minnesota marriage records are maintained in the county where the license was issued.
Cushing man killed in crash
A Cushing man was killed in a two-vehicle accident Jan. 6.
Todd County Sheriffs were called to the scene at the intersection of 400t Street and Norris Road. A woman was driving northbound in her Jeep on Norris Road when she struck a 1997 Dodge Stratus driven by David Shoquist, 53, of rural Cushing. Shoquist drove through a yield sign and was broadsided. Both vehicles were a total loss.
The woman and her passenger were taken via ambulance to Lakewood Health Hospital in Staples. Shoquist was pronounced dead at the scene.
Motley Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
Rims, tires stolen off truck Jan. 3
Authorities were called with a report that four custom chrome Mag 5 spoke rims and all terrain tires were stolen off a Chevy truck Jan. 3 from a farm implement sales lot south of Eagle Bend. The theft happened between Dec. 31 and Jan. 3. The incident is still under investigation.
