New York Mills couple honored for leadership
William and Elizabeth Schwartz, New York Mills, received special recognition for their commitment to leadership and their community during the Emerging Leadership Program recognition banquet on March 29. They, along with individuals from 16 other counties in northwestern and west central Minnesota were recognized for completing the leadership program.
The Emerging Leadership Program, a program of the University of Minnesota Extension, exists to create and sustain a network of community leaders in the northwest and west central regions of Minnesota focusing on agricultural and natural resource issues. The program consists of four training sessions with content based on University of Minnesota Extension's educational components designed to strengthen civic leadership. The value of this training was expressed by participants of this current class who shared, "This leadership program has made a difference by developing the gifts and talents we already have and giving us tools for leadership to make a difference in our communities." Another participant noted that the program "has given me the confidence to go outside of my box and lead in new ways."
