New Year's baby born at Lakewood Health System
Twenty-ten brings the celebration of birth for Nikkia and Jessy of Staples, who welcomed their new baby boy, Chase Owen, into the world on Jan. 1. The first baby of the New Year at Lakewood Health System, he was born at 3:37 p.m. and weighed in at 8 pounds, 12 ounces and measured 21 inches.
Delivering physician Dr. Sheila Froemming was assisted by Registered Nurses Lori Knudson and Kay Crist. Only a day after Chase Owen was born, the Lakewood Health System Auxiliary and Piecemakers Quilting Group presented gifts to the family in honor of the New Year. The auxiliary gave a gift of $100, presented by Marilyn Wilson of Staples. Annette Good of Staples, on behalf of the Piecemakers Quilting Group of the Staples area, gave a beautiful handmade quilt, prepared months in advance just for the 2010 New Year's baby.
The Auxiliary and Piecemakers Quilting Group annually present gifts to the family of the New Year's baby at Lakewood Health System. The Piecemakers Quilting Group also gives a bassinet quilt to each new baby at Lakewood Health System. In 2009, 270 families received a handmade quilt.
