New owner of Aldrich Tractor
A longtime employee of Aldrich Tractor is now its new owner.
Tim Current of Bertha took over the dealership Feb. 1.
"I've been here for over 20 years, so it was a joint venture between the previous owners and me," Current said. "I was shop foreman for many years."
Roger Bahls and Ken Broker were the previous owners, and had started the business in 1981.
Current started working at Aldrich Tractor in 1986, and the business has expanded throughout the years. One of the newest additions was taking on a Bobcat dealership in November 2011, in addition to existing brands.
"We used to be down in Aldrich in a four-car garage," Current said. "It was a gas station."
Bahls said he and Broker originally worked together at a dealership, Uselman's in Wadena.
Uselman's had an auction sale, and one of the brothers died in a car accident the first night of the sale, leaving him and Broker out of a job, Bahls added. So, the two started their own business.
"We just started as a repair shop," he said.
They started with sales in 1985, and moved into the new location, west of Aldrich, in January 1990.
As of June, Current said, Aldrich Tractor employs eight people, including him.
Blayne Ferley was hired when Broker retired.
Office Manager Dawn Roggenkamp said her favorite aspect of Aldrich Tractor is working with customers. She has been working there nine years, and said it has gotten a lot busier since she started.
Current said the business has customers who have been coming back many years. He added that they also get new customers all the time, especially with the new Bobcat dealership.
He said they try to do business the right way by treating customers well, and it has helped them throughout the years.
