New court, similar result

Courtney Volkmann came up with nine ace serves and Brittney Noon recorded 14 kills as Wadena-Deer Creek opened the season with a 3-0 victory on their new home court.

Playing their first varsity contest at WDC Elementary, the Wolverines scored 19 aces as they cruised to victories of 25-7, 25-11 and 25-7 over Pine River-Backus.

Volkmann also led the top-rated Wolverines with 22 assists.

Rachel Craig was tough at the net with eight blocks. Courtney Volkmann had five blocks.

Hope Theisen led a dominating WDC defensive effort with 11 digs. Caitlin Volkmann combined with Jackson, Noon and Mandy Perkins for 24 digs.

"We played very well for our first game out and playing in the Elementary gym," WDC head coach Sue Volkmann said. "There was great fan support and having them so close to the floor made it really loud. We definitely had a home court advantage."
