Nationally-acclaimed Studer Group gives award to Lakewood Health System
Studer Group presented Excellence in Patient Care awards to 40 healthcare organizations from around the country, including Lakewood Health System, during the 8th annual What's Right in Health Care conference in Dallas, Texas. The awards were given to organizations that earned exemplary ratings on the HCAHPS patient survey.
HCAHPS, or Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems, is a national standardized survey tool used to measure adult inpatient perception of the quality of care they receive at a given acute care hospital. The 27-question survey was created in 2002 through the combined efforts of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). Scores are publicly posted four times a year at www.hospitalcompare.hhs.gov.
Studer Group, a Florida-based outcomes firm, gives its Excellence in Patient Care awards based on very high scores in each of ten HCAHPS categories. Lakewood was nationally-recognized in the category question Patients Always Received Help As Soon As They Wanted. Founder and CEO of Studer Group Quint Studer personally presented the award to Lakewood staff at the conference.
"Research has shown that high HCAHPS results go hand-in-hand with excellent clinical care," said Studer. "By earning one of these awards, a hospital shows that it's deeply committed to the well-being of its patients."
