During National School Lunch Week, Oct. 10-14, Wadena-Deer Creek Public School recognizes the importance of healthy school lunch choices. WDC Food Services serve a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and low-fat dairy products each school day, providing students the best "brain fuel" for their busy school days.

October is also the first annual National Farm-to-School Month, which WDC Schools participates in with area producers. WDC Food Services incorporates a variety of locally-grown foods in their menu throughout the school year, such as sweet corn, honey, peppers and beans.

WDC was also awarded a Fresh Fruits and Vegetable Grant again this year, where fresh fruits and vegetables are served as afternoon snacks to students.
