Wadena-Deer Creek High School junior David Najjar was recently selected to the 2011 Minnesota All-State Lutheran Choir's 43rd Annual Tour.

Najjar will join 60 sophomores, juniors and seniors from across the state at Mount Carmel Ministries Camp on Lake Carlos in Alexandria. At the music camp, which runs from June 10 to 18, Najjar will participate in eight days of rehearsal, followed by a performance tour from June 18 to 29 to 12 to 14 different Lutheran congregations throughout the state.

Najjar, who's been singing with the WDC high school choir since seventh grade, was asked to audition for the prestigious all-state choir by his music teacher, Mike Ortmann.

Founded in 1969, the Minnesota All-State Lutheran Choir is currently under the direction of Dr. Thomas D. Rossin. During its 40-plus years, the choir has grown to include more than 1,450 alumni who have shared their music with 150 churches throughout the state.

David, who is the son of Matthew and Beth Najjar of Wadena, said he is "super excited" and "very honored" to sing tenor for the MASLC tour.
