April Legacy Programs
Cheryl Sawyer, Storyteller - April 13 - 2 p.m.
The first legacy program in April will be at the Menahga Elementary School. Multi-talented storyteller, Cheryl Sawyer, is coming to share her stories. Sawyer speaks the Finnish language and has carried that into her storytelling. She amazes crowds and tells the "Three Bears" in the Finnish language. She weaves in magic and balloon art with her stories, and enthralls crowds of children of all ages. She infuses humor and creative sound effects in the story telling and draws you to use your imagination. Come to this free event, be entertained, awaken your inner child, and bring a child along to enjoy, laugh and have fun while learning.
Cal Rice, Professional Photographer - April 19 - 6:30 P.M.
Rice will take you on a "trip" to Bhutan showing the beautiful landscapes and the beautiful people in his photographs amidst massive changes. Bhutan, officially the Kingdom of Bhutan, is a landlocked state in South Asia, located at the eastern end of the Himalayas and bordered to the south, east and west by the Republic of India and to the north by the People's Republic of China. Rice has been a professional commercial photographer for 25 years. Recently he traveled to Bhutan, in the Himalayas, to document the country and culture as it emerges from the 17th century into the 21st century.

ADULT AND YOUTH
"Beyond the Farthest Star" - Bodie Thoene. When a nativity display on public property is torched by a former US Senator, the media spotlight falls on the forgotten small town of Leonard, Texas, and the new pastor of its only church - Adam Wells. Emboldened by the prospect of leading his tiny congregation in a nationally-televised, first amendment debate that he considers to be a "fight for the heart and soul of America," Pastor Wells determines not to let anything or anyone, including his wife and his rebellious 16-year old daughter, stand in his way. But when an old high school friend unexpectedly shows up in their small town and a past secret is revealed, Pastor Wells' constitutional crusade collides with an even greater fight - the fight for the heart and soul of his marriage, his daughter, and, even his own life. In this modern-day story of betrayal, forgiveness, and finally redemption, Adam Wells discovers, for the first time, the meaning of the story he's been preaching all his life ... and his desperate daughter understands what really is beyond the farthest star. Award-winning authors, Bodie and Brock Thoene, have written an emotional and authentic drama based on a screenplay by Andrew Librizzi and now a major motion picture.
"Death of a Kingfisher" - M. C. Beaton. When Scotland is hit by the recession, Police Constable Hamish Macbeth notices that the Highland people are forced to come up with inventive ways to lure tourists to their sleepy towns. The quaint village of Braikie doesn't have much to offer, other than a place of rare beauty called Buchan's Wood, which was bequeathed to the town. The savvy local tourist director renames the woods "The Fairy Glen," and has brochures printed with a beautiful photograph of a kingfisher rising from a pond on the cover. It isn't long before coach tours begin to arrive. But just as the town's luck starts to turn, a kingfisher is found hanging from a branch in the woods with a noose around its neck. As a wave of vandalism threatens to ruin Braikie forever, the town turns to Hamish Macbeth. And when violence strikes again, the lawman's investigation quickly turns from animal cruelty to murder.
"Run From Fear" - Jami Alden. More than anything, Talia Vega wanted to leave behind her harrowing past. Moving eight hundred miles away, she succeeded ... until the one man who knows her darkest secrets wanders into the restaurant where she works. Now the agonizing memories come crashing back-along with an undeniable desire for Jack Brooks, the ex-Green Beret who rescued her from a sadistic monster two years ago. Jack Brooks knows that showing up unannounced is a purely selfish move. Talia doesn't need his protection anymore, but he can't get the raven-haired beauty out of his mind. And when a twisted madman is hell-bent on resurrecting her torturous past, Jack vows to do anything to keep her safe-even risk his own life to save the only woman he's ever loved.
