Saric stopped Schlepp at the 32-second mark in their 135-pound fight to even his career record at 4-4.

Saric, who is known as the "Bosnian Beast" in MMA circles, lives in Fergus Falls but trains in Wadena.

MMA competition combines the fighting arts of boxing, muay thai (Thai boxing), jiu-jitsu and wrestling into one.

Saric has been training with Wadena Coach Joe Jasicki for three months. Jasicki, who also works as a process server, took up the sport for his own safety. He has trained with former Otter Tail Central and University of Minnesota wrestler Jacob Volkmann, a veteran of MMA competition.

MMA is the fastest-growing sport in the world, according to Jasicki.

"It's new and it's fun,"

Jasicki said.

Also training with

Jasicki is former Wadena-Deer Creek Wrestling Coach Joe Snyder and Wadena Boxing Club Coach Jeremy Umland. Other participants include Tony Huen, Mark Neimla, Connie Umland and Stacy Jasicki.

Jasicki is taking his time in training his MMA fighters. The sport is dangerous without knowing the proper forms.

"You'd better have very good defense or you can have a limb broken," Jasicki said.

Jasicki started his STOMP gym in Wadena along with fellow MMA fighter Brock Larson. The gym is open

Monday through Saturday in the basement of Jefferson Square in downtown Wadena.
