Michael Lee Monroe, 59, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 4, 2010, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Mike was born March 26, 1950, to Milton and Katherine (Zuehlke) Monroe in Wadena. Mike attended Wadena Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1968. He continued his education at the Detroit Lakes Technical School in the auto body department, and in the truck driving class at the Alexandria Technical School. He enjoyed using his mechanical talents on cars and trucks, and spent many hours helping on the family farm.
Memorial services were held Jan. 11 in the Johnson Memorial Home Chapel in Wadena, with the Rev. Bob Griggs officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Brian Schwanke, Tanya Scherping, Billie Jo Mistelke and Michelle Rykard. Arrangements were with the Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena (www.johnsonmemorialhome.com).
Survivors include his parents, Milton and Katherine of Eagle Bend; brother, Richard of Maryland; sister, Debby Schwanke of Orlando, Fla.; nephew, Brian Schwanke; nieces, Tanya Scherping, Billie Mistelske, Michelle Rykard, Tara Monroe, Laurel Monroe-Enoch; great-nephews, Dacota Scherping, Austin Vossen, Khaleb Rykard; great-nieces Cheyanne Pachan, Shantell Scherping, Alexis Vossen, Aubriana Schwanke, and Aryanna Rykard.
Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Minnie Zuehlke, and Hugh and Nellie Monroe.
