Meidinger reaches 1,000 points in game with Nevis

The Nevis Tigers clobbered Verndale 77-41 Tuesday but Zack Meidinger got the 14 points he needed to reach the 1,000-point mark.

The Tigers roared to a 44-22 halftime lead and held Verndale to just 19 second half points for the 19th win in 25 games.

Dylan Stenberg paced the Tigers with 23 points while Nolan Toft tallied 21 and Shawn Anglin chipped in with 13.

Caleb Burczyk scored 10 points for the Pirates who bowed to 2-22.

The Pirates have been seeded 11th in the upcoming Section 5A playoffs and will travel to Menahga Monday for a 7 p.m. game with the sixth-seeded Braves.

The Braves took a 30-point lead into the locker room at halftime Friday en route to a Park Region Conference victory over the Pirates.

Derek Pilhlaja sparked the Braves with 25 tallies while Marlin Aho gunned in 17, Tom Gruchow netted 16 and Markkus Tolkkinen nailed 10.

Zack Meidinger scored 17 points in the loss.
