Cozy Twin goes triplet
Starting this spring, when Hollywood sends newly released films to Wadena the cans will be labeled "Cozy 3" instead of "Cozy 2."
The "3" will acknowledge the addition of a third screen theater to The Cozy Twin Theatre. Owner Dave Quincer plans on filling the new auditorium with movie fans by May 18, if everything goes as scheduled, he said.

Walking into the Wadena Bowling Alley Monday night just before 5 p.m., other bowlers make sure to stop and say "hi" to the "Queen of the Lanes."
Elaine Kneisl, who will be 83 in October, has been bowling for 50 years.

Penalties will be stiffer for DWIs
Effective this summer, a first-degree driving while intoxicated charge could mean stricter penalties.
The charge will be considered a felony in Minnesota. It is now a gross misdemeanor with two or more aggravating factors.

March 20: Two vehicles were "whipping cookies" in the Pamida lot and were given a verbal warning.
March 22: Three individuals attempted to enter a Barrel-O-Fun delivery truck. The individuals had tried to get into the back of the truck possibly to steal potato chips.

Wadena area CROP committee sets dates for 1987 walk
The Wadena Area CROP Walk for Hunger committee met March 16 to continue preparation for the community's 1987 CROP Walk to be held Wednesday (May 6).

It was quite a nifty parade and the wearing of the green on St. Patrick's Day in Wadena. Local merchants and businesses joined in the fun. There were bright green western top hats, square dancing, kids, adults, tractors, manure spreaders, wagons -- you name it.

Fish rules changed on 'shore streams
Minnesota anglers were reminded today that the state now has a continuous fishing season on all North Shore streams from Lake Superior upstream to the posted boundaries.
In past years, a special early season was held in these streams but the regulations have been changed so as to permit year long fishing.
Homan hired to complete plan for AF station use
Larry Homan, a new resident of the county, has been hired to complete a plan for the use of the station as a treatment center for both soft drug and alcoholic rehabilitation extended treatment. Homan has had considerable experience in writing programs of this type and obtaining funding. Such a program is necessary to implement funding and operation approval.

Plans progress for opening of Shady Lane Rest Home May 1
Leonard J. Gibson, probation and parole agent for the state of Minnesota in the Youth Conservation Department, has been elected as superintendent of the newly created Shady Lane Rest Home in this city and will assume his new duties April 4.
Work at painting and renovation of the interior of the former sanatorium building and residence is is nearing completion and it is expected to have the place in operation on or about May 4.
