The funeral service for Maurice Franklin Finck, age 87, of Wadena will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2014, at the Wadena Alliance Church, with Pastor Vaughn White officiating. Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena. Visitation will resume at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Maurice passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014, at the VA Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Maurice was born April 19, 1926, near Dorsett, MN, to Chris and Clara (Wickstrom) Finck. He entered the US Army on June 21, 1945 and received an honorable medical discharge June 25, 1946. Maurice married Gladys Brunko on April 20, 1948, at the St. John Lutheran parsonage in Wadena. To this union were born four sons, Maurie, Dick, Gene and Dave. At Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Bluegrass, MN, 1960, Maurice was baptized into the Christian faith. He was a member of the American Legion for over 50 years, and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Maurice was preceded in death by his parents Chris and Clara; step-mother Carol Sandback; son Maurice, Jr.; and brother Arnold. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gladys; sons, Dick (Deb) of Bertha, Gene (Vicky) and Dave (Linda Olson) both of Verndale; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sisters Dee Bounds of Verndale and Gerry Gronwald of Auburn, WA; step-brother Jim (Lorraine) Finck of Verndale; sister-in-law Myra Finck of Portland, OR; and daughter-in-law Marlene Finck of Verndale.

Military honors will be provided by the Elmer Goche Post 3922, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Wadena, MN.

Burial will be in Wadena Cemetery.
