Maria Zutter

The Mass of Christian Burial for Maria Zutter of Wadena was celebrated Jan. 29, 2013, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena, with Father Donald Wagner as celebrant.

Maria, 88, passed away at Perham Health & Living on Jan. 22, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.

Maria DeVooght Zutter was born Oct. 10, 1924, to Alphonse and Marie (LeBrun) DeVooght in Brussels, Belgium. She was one of 13 children, and was baptized and raised in the Catholic church. She loved attending the Catholic church and watching church services on TV.

Maria married Melvin L. Zutter in 1948 in Brussels, during World War II. Their oldest son, John, was born in Brussels, and they later returned to central Minnesota, where Melvin's family was from.

Maria and Melvin had six children, three boys and three girls. She was a homemaker until her youngest children were in high school. She also worked at Shady Lane Nursing Home in Wadena until her retirement. Maria resided the past four years at the assisted living home, Heritage House, in Sebeka.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alphonse and Marie; her siblings; beloved daughter, Yvonne; beloved son, Timothy; and grandson, Bradley Melvin.

She is survived by her sons, John (Melissa) and Greg (Cathy), both of New York Mills; daughters, Yvette Zutter of Staples and Rhonda (Dave) Puttonen of Sebeka; grandchildren, Shawn, Chad, Naomi, Sharnel, Sam, Alicia, Janae, Jamie, Jennifer, Chanse, Tessa, Sara, Greg, Jr., Crystal, Emily, Demetric, Kyle and Jenna; as well as numerous great-grandchildren and a host of friends.

Maria will continue to be loved and dearly missed.

Honorary pallbearers were Jean Claude DeVooght, as well as Maria's grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers were Chad Zutter, Samuel Zutter, Chanse Digiovanni, Greg Zutter, Demetric Puttonen, Kyle Puttonen, Paul Richter, Lawrence Lubitz, Cole Puttonen and Caleb Puttonen.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Wadena, and arrangements are with Schuller Family Funeral Homes in Wadena.
