For those looking for a way to help the victims of the hurricane there are several ways. Many organizations along the East Coast are looking for donations to help provide shelter and food, along with supplies.

The Red Cross continues to focus on reaching as many people as possible who need help. Additional help is needed to continue to support relief efforts. Getting supplies, meals and water into affected areas is the top priority, according to the Red Cross website.

Since the beginning of the Sandy relief effort:

More than 5,350 Red Cross workers have been assigned to operations from Virginia to Rhode Island, with the majority in Greater New York and throughout New Jersey.

The Red Cross has provided more than 92,500 overnight shelter stays in more than 250 Red Cross shelters.

More than 1 million meals and snacks have been served.

The Red Cross has distributed more than 60,200 relief items such as clean-up kits and hygiene kits.

Financial donations help the Red Cross provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance to those affected by disasters like Hurricane Sandy, as well as countless crises at home and around the world.

To donate, go to www.redcross.org, call 800-Red-Cross or text the word "Redcross" to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

The Salvation Army is also helping victims of the storm with mobile feeding units and shelters along the East Coast.
