Man charged with DWI, property damage in truck fire
A Deer Creek man faces two charges of first-degree damage to property and a DWI charge for allegedly smashing a relative's pickup into a tree, causing a vehicle fire, then fleeing.
According to court documents, Casey Wayne Sellhammer, 23, of Deer Creek, sideswiped a tree and slammed into another tree, leading to the pickup starting on fire near Cottingham Park in Wadena County. Seelhammer and a passenger then allegedly ran away, according to a witness, shouting, "This thing is [expletive]! Let's get the [expletive] out of here."
The Staples Fire Department extinguished the blaze.
Seelhammer had a .256 blood alcohol concentration after the incident, according to court records. His first appearance was set for July 27.
