A celebration of Lucille Houselog's life was held at the Deer Creek, Minn. community center on Wednesday, Oct. 3 from 5-8 p.m. Her funeral was at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, at the United Methodist Church in Deer Creek. Visitation was available one hour prior to the service. Inurnment was at the Oak Hill Cemetery following the service, with fellowship and a meal to follow at the community center.
Lucille Bertha (Lange) Houselog, 84, of Staples, Minn. (formerly of Pipestone and Deer Creek, Minn.) died Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, surrounded by her family. Lucille was born Dec. 15, 1927, in Pipestone, Minn. to Ernest and Ella Lange.
She met and married Ronald Houselog, the love of her life, on June 11, 1947. They resided in and around the Pipestone area, where they farmed and raised their five children. In 1970, Lucille and Ronald moved to the Deer Creek area, where they purchased their farm, retirement home and joined in community activities.
Lucille and Ronald moved to Staples, Minn. in 2006, where she continued to reside until her death. Lucille was living at Lakewood Pines at the time of her passing.
She was a great wife and mother who enjoyed bowling, sewing, baking, ceramics, trips to the casino with the group on the bus, her very special long-time friends, writing letters and keeping up with her family.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, an infant son (Todd) and Ronald, her loving husband of 61 years.
Lucille will be forever remembered and held dear by her children, David (Judy)Houselog of Marshall, Minn., Dawn (Bill) Hayden of Moose Lake, Minn., Roger (Laurel) Houselog of Staples, Minn., Clay (Cheryl) Houselog of Henning, Minn. and Lisa (Ricky) Nesvold of Dilworth, Minn. She will also be missed by 15 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and her loving brother, Donald Lange of Henning, Minn.
