Local radiothon brings in $20,000
The 6th Annual Radiothon to End Child Abuse was held Dec. 2-3 on radio stations KWAD/KNSP and Superstation K-106. This year the Radiothon was able to raise another $20,000 and that brings the six year total to nearly $140,000.
KWAD/KNSP and Superstation K-106 teamed up with child abuse prevention organizations from Hubbard, Otter Tail, Todd and Wadena counties. The parent company of the radio stations, Omni Broadcasting, started the Radiothon in 1989 and since that time more than $2 million has been raised. Prevent Child Abuse Minnesota is a partner in the venture and all money stays in Minnesota and with our county partners.
Arvig Communications System provided the phone lines for the event and Super One Foods in Wadena was host for the first day of the Radiothon.
The Radiothon is an annual event held the first Thursday and Friday in December.
