The funeral service for Lillian Rude of Wadena, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2014, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wadena, with Pastor Nate Loer officiating. Friends may call on Friday at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m and at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. At the age of 94, Lillian passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena.
Lillian Dreva Johnson was born to John C. and Melvina "Josie" (McLaughlin) Johnson on June 11, 1919, on the family farm near Browerville, MN. In 1926, the family moved to Menahga where Lillian graduated from high school in 1931. She moved to Wadena in 1936, and found work at the Great Northern Hotel where she met her future husband. Lillian was united in marriage with Herbert Tilman Rude of Dalton, MN, on July 5, 1937. They made their home in Wadena, raising their family of six children. Her days were filled with office work at Herbs Garage, along with being involved with church groups, teaching Sunday School and leading Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She enjoyed quilting, and for many years was a care giver for her folks, husband, and sister. She always enjoyed her friendships, camping at the lake, traveling and swimming. In earlier years, she enjoyed taking saunas, dancing, and driving in Powder Puff stock car races. She even won an electric frying pan in a hula-hoop contest!
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents John and Josie; husband Herbert; sister Alida; son Richard; granddaughter Krista Robidoux; and son-in-law Jerry Stahl.
She is survived by her children Janice Stahl of Wadena, Sharon (Manuel) Umpierre of Esko, Dennis (Carol) Rude of Wadena, Penny (Bruce) Brunsvold of Anchorage, AK, and Bobbie (David) Robidoux of Muskego, WI. 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren & 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Erik Robidoux, Glenn Leeseberg, James Rude, Scott Rude, Manuel Umpierre III, and Richard Umpierre.
Burial will be in the Wadena Cemetery.
