Leland Reichelt Jr.
Leland Gordon Reichelt Jr., 51, of Columbus, Miss., formerly of Wadena, passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 29, 2009, at his home.
Leland was born to Leland Sr. and Carolyn (Ries) on Oct. 8, 1958, at Wesley Hospital in Wadena. Leland graduated from Wadena Senior High School and then attended the University of Minnesota -- Duluth, University of Minnesota -- Crookston and then avionics training in Alexandria. He lived in Denver for 20 years and spent the last two years in Columbus working for Aurora Aviation.
Leland was active in the Knights of Columbus, church work, enjoyed cowboy action shooting, gun collecting, Civil War re-enactment, Nascar and Sprint cars, sailing, historic narrow gauge railroad and mountain climbing. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus -- 4th Degree, Single Action Shooting Society and Sons of Confederate Veterans.
The Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, Jan. 6 in the St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena with the Revs. Donald Wagner and Kurt Gunwall celebrating. Interment was in the Calvary Cemetery in Wadena. Pallbearers were Jeff and Ric Harrison, Charles Ries, Greg Lislegard, Duane Moore and Tim Edinger. Memorials are preferred to Friends of the Wadena City Library or the Wadena Area Crisis Pregnancy Center. Arrangements were with the Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena (www.johnsonmemorialhome.com).
Survivors include his parents, Dr. Leland and Carolyn of Wadena; his brother, William; and his fianceé, Jamie Glowacki of Duluth.
Leland was preceded in death by his grandparents.
