Lehmkuhl powers Wolverines past Perham

Michaela Lehmkuhl's monster game gave the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines a split with Perham Tuesday on the WDC diamond.

The sophomore backstop went 4-for-4 with two home runs and seven RBIs as the Wolverines won the opener 10-5.

"She has a nice swing, makes good contact and meets the ball in front of the plate, which is something we teach," WDC Head Coach Craig Klawitter said in praising Lehmkuhl.

Caitlin Volkmann out-dueled Ashley Silbernagel to gain the pitching win. Volkmann walked six and surrendered seven hits but fanned eight. Silbernagel walked six and fanned four. The Perham hurler was touched for all 10 runs.

The Yellowjackets broke open a tight game with seven runs in the final two frames to claim the nightcap 11-4.

Katelyn Peters went 3-for-4 in the loss and scored twice. Avery Jackson went 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI.

Victoria Witthuhn went the distance for WDC surrendering 10 walks and 12 hits. Allie Doll scattered seven hits to gain the win.
