The memorial service for LaVilla Johnson of Verndale will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2014 at the Schuller Family Funeral Homes Verndale Chapel, with Pastor Daryl Jacobson officiating. Friends may call on Friday at the Verndale Chapel one hour prior to the service. At the age of 95, LaVilla passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at the Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples, MN.
LaVilla was born at the home of her parents, William Fredrick and Cora Josephine (Erie) Tresemer, on December 29, 1918, in Aldrich Township near Verndale in Wadena County, MN.
On June 9, 1946, LaVilla was married to Elmer Donald Johnson at Oak Grove Congregational Church. Many of LaVillas days were spent outdoors where she was busy with gardening and planting trees. She liked going to horse shows and parades and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and watching them show their 4-H projects at the county fair. She really enjoyed her trips to Montana in her van. In earlier years, LaVilla had been a 4-H Leader and a member & Past President of the Ladies Aid.
LaVilla was preceded in death by her parents William and Cora; and her husband Elmer.
She is survived by her children Donna Uselman of Verndale, Malinda Dexter of Wadena and Donald (Barb) Johnson of Verndale; along with 14 grandchildren & 16 great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bryon Lalum, Chris Lalum, Matt Uselman, Cory Uselman, Mark Johnson and Michael Johnson.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Verndale, MN.
