Funeral services for Lance Michael Pierce of Deer Creek, will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at the Wadena-Deer Creek High School Gymnasium in Wadena. Friends may call on Monday at St. Ann's Parish Center in Wadena from 4:00 until 8:00 PM with prayers at 6:00 PM and on Tuesday at the Wadena-Deer Creek High School from 1:30 PM until the time of services.
Lance left this world suddenly on January 17, 2014. Born on December 21, 1998, he was the beloved son of Eric and Nancy Pierce and a wonderful brother to Lexi and Jessica. Lance was in his freshman year at WDC High School. He was well respected by teachers, coaches, teammates and classmates alike. He was an excellent student who loved to read. He was a Knowledge Bowl participant, as well as a member of the football, wrestling and baseball teams. He loved the outdoors, to hunt and fish. Lance was a well-liked, kind, considerate, well-mannered young man. He was sensitive to others, very compassionate. His last act of compassion was to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. He seemed much wiser than his years.
Lance was preceded in death by his grandfather John Schertler, and grandmother Jeanette Pierce.
He is survived by his parents, Eric and Nancy Pierce; sisters, Lexi and Jessica; great-grandmother Muriel Kliber; grandmother Barb Schertler; grandfather Toby Pierce; aunts and uncles Ron and Grace Schertler, Lynn (Bernie Frey) Pierce, Mark and Vicki Pierce, Randy and Beth Curtis, Erin Pierce; cousins: Zac and Colby Schertler, Ryan (Iselda) Pierce, Tara (John) St. Martin, Colton Borg, Kelsie Pierce, Myles & Toby Curtis, Hannah & Cameron Frey; along with numerous great aunts & uncles and second cousins.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Wadena Deer Creek Wrestling Team and the Class of 2017. Serving as Pallbearers will be Ryan Kliber, Brandon Kliber, Mike Kenney, Jerry Breid, Kurt Leeseberg and Norm Gallant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Wadena, MN.
