Lamplighter Theatre sets auditions for 'The Cemetery Club'
Lamplighter Community Theatre will hold auditions Dec. 29 and 30 for a winter production of "The Cemetery Club," a full length, bittersweet comedy by Ivan Menchell.
Auditions will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 29 and 30, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1000 4th St. NE, Staples.
Three Jewish widows meet once a month for tea before going to visit their husbands' graves. Ida is sweet tempered and ready to begin a new life. Lucille is a feisty embodiment of the girl who just wants to have fun. Doris is priggish and judgemental, particularly when Sam the butcher enters the scene. He meets the widows while visiting his wife's grave.
Four women and one man will be cast and all should be over 40 years old.
Performance dates are two weekends -- Feb. 25 and 26 and March 3, 4 and 5 -- at the Landmark Inn, Staples.
Other people are needed for the production. The areas include assistant director/stage manager, set construction, lighting and sound tech, promotion like distributing posters and making table tents, gathering costumes and props, coordinating ticket sales and refreshments. Those interested in any of these volunteer opportunities are welcome to attend auditions.
Anyone interested who cannot make the audition times can call Pam at (218) 894-3681 to set alternate times.
