Perham softball leagues forming
Anyone interested in forming a team in the Perham Men's League or Co-Rec Softball Leagues for this summer should contact Randy Skoog at 346-8072 by April 10.
The Men's League will play on Thursday nights and the Co-Rec League will play on Tuesday nights.
Both Leagues are American Softball Association (ASA) sanctioned and provide an opportunity for post-season play at the district, state, and national levels.
Baseball bingo fundraiser April 10
The Perham Homerun Club will be hosting their annual Barbecue Baseball Bingo on Thursday, April 10 at Prairie Wind Middle School in Perham.
Concessions, including hotdogs, brats and chips, will open at 5:30 p.m. with bingo starting at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $2 for 20 games of bingo. Winners will receive a package of meat to throw on their grill at home. Tickets are available at the door on April 10, or from any Perham baseball player.
All proceeds go to the 7th-12th grade baseball program and Perham VFW and Legion Summer baseball programs.
Don't forget, Perham will host the Minnesota State VFW Baseball Tournament at Krueger Field and Matt's Field Aug. 6-10.
Perham boys hoop banquet
The season-ending banquet for the Perham boys basketball program will be Monday, March 31 at Mulligan's Pub & Eatery at PLGC.
Dinner will start at 6:30 p.m. and will cost $10 per plate, which includes a drink. The awards program will follow dinner at about 7:15 p.m.
13th Annual Spring Fling Basketball Tournament
It's time for area teams to sign up for Perham's 13th Annual Spring Fling Basketball Tournament.
The tournament will be held April 5-6 and is open to boys teams in grades 3-9. Each team will be guaranteed three games.
Registration is $100 per team. Teams will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis and is limit to the first 12 teams in each age division. Registration deadline is April 2.

Hoot's Fishing seminar
Hoot's Sports is hosting a series of fishing seminar's in their showroom in Perham throughout the spring.
This week's seminar on March 29 will be on Breaking Down a Lake and will be conducted by pro fisherman Jeff Sterriker. Sterriker is a former Perham wrestling coach.
The seminar's start at 10 a.m. Men's women and kid's of all ages are invited to the seminar's to improve their fishing skills.
Perham youth hoop teams in regional playoffs
The Perham 6th grade boys' basketball team will be playing in the Pacesetter Region 6 play-offs this spring at Wadena-Deer Creek High School in Wadena on Saturday, April 12.
All teams who play in the region play-offs will be attempting to qualify for the 2008 Minnesota Youth Basketball State Championships, which will be held in June at The College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph near St. Cloud.
The Perham 7th, 8th, and 9th grade boys' basketball teams will be playing in the Pacesetter Region 8 play-offs this spring at Mahnomen High School gym on April 12 for the 7th and 8th grade and April 19 for the 9th grade.
Each regional play-off is open to all Minnesota teams. All teams will play 3-4 games in the regional tournaments, which are limited to 16 teams.
This statewide youth basketball tournament system, coordinated by Pacesetter Sports, annually involves over 700 teams. All head coaches and athletic directors have received registration materials. Teams may get more information and also register online at www.psmbbn.com.
3rd Annual Flap Jack 5K Run-Walk
The sap is running and so our local runners as they gear up for the 3rd annual 5K Flap Jack Run-Walk.
Two years ago the Vergas Community Club established the run as an additional activity to the Vergas Maple Syrup Celebration, set this year for Sat. April 5th, 2008.
Last year's event had over 100 participants, we are really looking forward to meeting that goal once again, stated Vergas Community Club President, Melissa Bunkowske. Everyone is encouraged to participate whether they like to run or walk.
Those who wish to run will be eligible to win a hand-crafted maple leaf medal, designed by local artisan Pat Shannon of Forest Edge Gallery of Vergas, MN. Medals will be, awarded to the top three winners of each category. Runner's entry fee will also include breakfast at the Vergas Community Center, and an official Maple Syrup Fest headgear.
Runner's and Walker's entry fee is $20 each. Registration for the run/walk begins at 9am at Billy's Corner Bar with the race beginning at 10am.
