Lakers skate past Blue Devils 4-2
The Detroit Lakes Lakers bunched three goals in the second period en route to a 4-2 Mid-State Conference hockey win over George Behl's Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Wadena-Deer Creek Blue Devils.
The Blue Devils opened their scoring in the first period on an unassisted goal by Abigail Ecker at the 10:05 mark.
The Lakers shook off their first period scoring problems by scoring three of the next four goals. Sydney Haman, Randa Larsen and Emily Seebold poked in second period goals for Detroit Lakes. Brooke Umland countered with an unassisted goal for LPGE/WDC at the 6:02 mark.
Hailey Sonstegard iced an insurance goal at the 13:07 mark of the final period.
The Lakers put 34 shots on goal with LPGE/WDC's Angela Hanson, kicking out 30. The Blue Devils put 19 shots on goal against Detroit Lakes' Veroncia Badurek.
Callie Johnson was credited with two assists in the victory.
The Blue Devils will play Mid-State foe Park Rapids in a road game Tuesday.
