Korfe leads Raiders past Huskies

Kirstin Korfe fired five innings of shutout ball Friday as the Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale Raiders defeated Pillager 10-4.

Korfe walked five and struck out nine in her complete game performance.

Korfe helped her own cause by going 2-for-4 at the plate and scoring twice. Tiffany Wangerin went 2-for-2 with two runs and Sydney Weniger went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Ashley Hanson led the Huskies with two hits.

The victory improved the Raiders to 6-2.

Kirstin Korfe slammed a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth Thursday as the Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale Raiders whipped the Chargers.

The Raiders saw their lead shrink to four in the top of the fifth as Emma Fredrich hita two-run shot for the Chargers.

BHV starter Hannah VanHale turned the pitching over to Korfe after Fredrich’s blast. Korfe fanned both of the hitters she faced.

The Raiders erupted for six runs in the bottom of the fifth Sydney Weniger and Tiffany Wangerin scored on wild pitches and Madison Valley scored on a sacrifice fly before Korfe drove in Alyssa Kimber and Michaela Powers with her round-tripper.

Korfe went 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Weniger went 2-for-2, drove in two runs and scored twice. Hannah VanHale and Jordyn Glenz also scored twice for BHV.

VanHale fanned nine batters in picking up the pitching win.

Fredrich went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs for Brandon-Evansville.

Jordyn Glenz led a 14-hit attack Tuesday as the Raiders topped Menahga 13-6 to earn a split with Menahga in a Park Region Conference twinbill.

Glenz homered, drove in five runs and scored three.

Sarah Moenkedick went 3-for-5, scored twice and drove in three runs. Hannah VanHale scored three runs.

Joy Haataja went 3-for-4 in the loss.

Jenny Skoog homered and drove in three runs as the Braves took the second game 10-3.

Moenkedick went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
