Klegstad, Bearcats thrash Wolverines 10-1
Dalton Klegstad's five-point game carried Kittson Central to a 10-1 victory over Wadena-Deer Creek Saturday at the Hallock Ice Arena.
Back-to-back games with Breckenridge-Wahpeton and a 210-mile bus trip took its toll on the Wolverines who managed just 14 shots on goal against Kittson Central goalie Tucker Cosley.
"That's real tough when you have to play that much hockey but that's weather-related," WDC head coach Chris Holman said.
Klegstad scored a hat trick and added a pair of assists. Billy Thorsteinson recorded four assists and Anders Lindegard collected two goals.
Dylan Phillips took a feed from Michael Behl in the second period to score WDC's lone goal at the 6:54 mark. The Wolverines managed just two shots on goal in the period.
WDC's Wesley Janson came up with 36 saves.
The loss left the Wolverines with a 4-15-1 record. The Bearcats improved their season mark to 13-3-1 and their home ice record to 7-1.
The Wolverines travel to Detroit Lakes Thursday for a Mid-State Conference match.

Dylan Phillips scored a hat trick Friday as the Wolverines gained a tie with the Blades at the Wadena Hockey Arena.
After squaring off one night earlier in Wahpeton, the two clubs again matched shots on goal closely with the Blades taking 32 to WDC's 31.
WDC goalie Wesley Janson stopped the Blades cold in the first and third periods but the Blades erupted for four goals in the second period. Brandon Wixo had two of the goals while Austin Hagstrom and Aaron Neppl both had one.
Michael Behl came up with a goal in the second period to go along with two assists. Jarrett Pettit was also credited with a pair of assists. Tyler Winkels, Josh Daigneault and Austin Sutherland were credited with solo assists.
"With the win against Breck/Wahpeton Thursday and the tie Friday we've got a pretty good shot at being 10th in our section," WDC head coach Chris Holman said.
