Joyce Irene Schmitz, 71, passed away with her loving husband at her side, on Sept. 6, 2009, at her home in Wadena.
She was born Feb. 18, 1938, to Boyd Arthur and Ann Frances (Kluenenberg) Rydbom in Bluffton. She married Frank Joseph Schmitz on Nov. 29, 1956, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena. Her interests and hobbies included gardening, crocheting, cleaning, baking, cooking, and walking. She always enjoyed a good conversation with her friends and family.
The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 9, in St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena with the Rev. Donald Wagner as celebrant. Interment was in the Calvary Cemetery in Wadena. Pallbearers were Brad Kempe, David Cooper, Mike Anderson, John Kempe, Nathan Tabery and Russell Cooper. Arrangements were with the Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena (www.johnsonmemorialhome.com).
Survivors include her husband, Frank; sons, Michael of Wisconsin, James of Deer Creek, and Joel of Arizona; daughters, Ann Ness of Wadena, Pam (David) Cooper of Staples, Mary Dee (Brad) Kempe of Verndale, Sharyl (Jeff) Rinkel of Wadena, and Teresa Schmitz of Brainerd; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Leroy Rydbom; and sisters, Mary Ann (Richard) Hiatt, Estella (Joe) Uselman, Doris (Leo) Tabery, Patricia (Ronald) Bartels, and Pauline (Mike) Donaldson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Ann; brother, James Rydbom; and sister, Bernice Kern.
