John August Kneisl, formerly of Wadena, passed away Jan. 27, 2010.
John was born on March 20, 1938, to John and Clara (Price) Kneisl. He was in the National Guard and Army from 1955 through 1957. While he lived in Wadena he worked at Homecrest from 1963 through 1971. On Oct. 17, 1965 John married Reatha Larson at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena. Together they had three sons. In 1971, John and his family moved from Wadena to Minneapolis. While living in Minneapolis, he had various jobs until 1983 when he became a school bus driver. He retired from school bus driving in December of 2008. John enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing Powerball, doing scratch off games, and using his luck on occasional trips to the casino.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4343 Nicollet Ave S., Minneapolis, MN 55409. A social hour in the reception hall will be held following the service. In lieu of flowers, please send cards.
Survivors include his wife, Reatha; his sons, Douglas (Michelle), Curtis (Tanya) and Scott (Mary); his grandchildren, Tristan, Christina, Fern and Joseph; four sisters, Annette, Marie (Jack), Margaret and Bernadine; and his sister-in-law, Carolyn.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Rita; his brother, Charles; and his brothers-in-law, Herman, Jerry and Ken.
