Funeral services were held for Jessie Langemo, age 99 of Deer Creek, Minnesota (currently resided in New York Mills) on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Deer Creek, Minnesota with Pastor Paul Yearyean officiating. The hymns were sung by the congregation, accompanied by Darleen Wendt. The pallbearers were William Cashman, Todd Davis, Mark Zroka, Tom Redding, Les Getting and Steve Storm; honorary pallbearers were Dustin Zroka and Don Redding. Jessie was laid to rest in Compton Cemetery, Compton Township, rural Deer Creek, Minnesota.
Jessie Lucinda Windels was born on August 13, 1914 at home in Otter Tail County, rural New York Mills, Minnesota. Her parents were the late Henry and Mary (Ollikainen) Windels. Jessie was baptized on August 13, 1917 in New York Mills and attended the New York Mills High School. On May 26, 1933 Jessie was united in marriage with Frank Quarnstrom at the Bill and Mae Johnson Farmstead in Compton Township, rural Deer Creek, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with three children. Jessie and Frank made their home and farmed in Compton Township until 1958. Jessie made her home in Wadena, Minnesota where she was employed as a sales lady for JCPenney. In 1960, she moved to Fargo, North Dakota and was employed in sales with S&L Department Store. Jessie was then employed with Fashion City Ladies as their Regional Manager and resided in Minot, North Dakota, Rochester, Minnesota and later returning to Fargo where she was the bookkeeper for Getman Oil. Jessie resided on a lake in rural Osage, Minnesota until 1990 when she was married to Martin Langemo and they made their home in Deer Creek, Minnesota. Martin passed away and Jessie resided in the Deer Creek Manor until 2005 when she moved to Alexandria, Minnesota. Since 2010, Jessie has been cared for at the Elders Home in New York Mills. She has always enjoyed her grandchildren, gardening, sewing, flower gardens, crossword puzzles, playing cards and reading.
Jessie passed away on September 27, 2013 at the Elders Home in New York Mills, Minnesota at 99 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Jessie in death were her parents; sister, Mary; brothers: Edward, Archie, Adolph and Gordon; granddaughter, Melissa Reddin.
Jessie is survived by her 2 daughters: Susan (Don) Davis of Circle Pines and Sharon (William) Reddin of Minneapolis; son, Eldred Quarnstrom of Alexandria; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and host of friends.
