Neil Janson found his stride in the Pelican Rapids Invitational Monday as he placed second for Wadena-Deer Creek with a 19:08.53.

Otter Tail Central's D.J. Cline ruled the Birchwood Golf Course with a 19:01.02. Also placing in the top five were Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton's Tyler Hennen with a 19:12.61, Pelican Rapids' Dana Johnson with a 19:29.93 and Park Rapids' Taylor Kimball with a 19:33.11.

Janson was backed up by a sixth place time of 20:02.51 by Shane Motschenbacher, a 12th place time of 20:25.70 by Zach Bernu and a 32nd place time of 22:07.67 by Forrest McQuisten.

Hannah Toedter set the pace for the fifth place-finishing WDC girls. The senior standout placed fourth with a 17:22.96. Park Rapids stars Lydia and Victoria Lutz both cracked the 17-minute mark with times of 16:14.01 and 16:34.09. Pelican Rapids' Jenna Bakken was tough on her home courts with a third-place time of 17:22.96. Finishing fifth was Hillcrest standout Rhoda Christenson with a 17:49.11.

WDC's Mary McGrane crossed the finishing line in 15th with a time of 18:25.61. Teammates Lauren Girard, Kelsey Browne and Bailee Schissel ran 27th, 30th and 37th in the 44-runner field with times of 19:55.03, 20:19.60 and 21:31.52.

Park Rapids took top team honors in the girls' race with 25 points. Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton pulled out a victory in the boys' event with 68 Points.

Emma Schmitz and Brody Wangsness gave the Wolverines third and fourth place finishes in the junior high event.
