Janson rebounds to take sixth at Birchwood
Wadena-Deer Creek's Neil Janson collected a sixth-place finish Monday in the Glen Moerke Invitational at Birchwood Golf Course outside Pelican Rapids.
Janson, who came out fast in the WDC Invitational but failed to finish the race, ran a time of 18:52.64 in the five-kilometer varsity race.
Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton's Tyler Hennen set the winning pace with a 17:58.38 time. Park Rapids' Isaac Overmyer was second with an 18:01.60.
WDC's Will Eliason posted a time of 19:54.47 to take 18th place. Joey Pate finished 22nd with a 20:19.62. Brody Wangsness came in 28th with a 20:50.94.
Park Rapids standout Lydia Lutz took top honors in the girls' race with a 15:55.25 and the Panthers dominated team competition by running five of the top six times. Pelican Rapids' Emily Bakken was second with a 16:32.45.
Emma Schmitz led the WDCgirls with an eighth-place time of 17:41.00. Brianna Rosenthal ran a 21:00.02 for 23rd place. Rosenthal's time also placed her first in the JV meet. Sydney Greenwaldt and Shaye Blessing were fourth and fifth in JV competition. Liz Peterson, Austin Sutherland and Gabby Ross were third, fourth and eighth in the junior high meet.
