Perfect weather touched Whitetail Run Tuesday as the Perham boys and the Little Falls girls ran away with team honors in the Wadena-Deer Creek Invitational.

Seven Perham boys placed in the Top 20 with Brady Speicher, Nick Carignan and Dalton Dahms finishing third, fourth and fifth with times of 17:33, 17:41 and 17:53.

The strong showing gave the Yellowjackets a first place score of 24. Little Falls was a second with 67 points.

Byron Shuldt of Nevis set the winning pace with a time of 16:36. Little Falls' Brad Zimney finished second with a time of 16:58.

Brody Wangsness ran a 22:26 for the Wolverines to earn 40th place. Will Eliason was right behind with a 20:27. Joey Pate finished 43rd with a 20:34. WDC senior Neil Janson came out "way to fast" according to Head Coach Terry Olson and was forced to quit the race before crossing the finish line. Janson paced the Wolverines in their season opener at Morris with a 19:42.

The Little Falls girls edged Perham 39-42 in their battle for first place. Park Rapids was a close third with 49 points.

Mattia Hendrickson led the Flyers with a third-place time of 16:14.24.

Park Rapids' Lydia Lutz turned in a winning time of 16:02.62.

Emma Schmitz gave the Wolverines a 17th place finish with a time of 17:39.64.

WDC's Sydney Greenwaldt placed 12th in the junior varsity race with a 22:27 time.

The Wolverines got 10th and 11th place finishes from Liz Peterson and Brianna Rosenthal in the junior high meet. Peterson ran a 15:27 and Rosenthal turned in a 15:33. Gabby Ross was 14th with a 15:45 while Shaye Blessing was 19th with a 16:52. Joe Najjar posted a 15:27 on the boys' side for 30th place.

The Wolverines travel to Pelican Rapids Monday.
