In loving memory: Irma Catherine Crane, age 92, of Wadena, Minn., died on Nov. 27, 2012, at Tri-County Health Care in Wadena.
Irma was born in Milwaukee, Wis., to Stephen and Anna (Remsik) Jancovek Jan. 12, 1920. Later, her mother married Joseph Laub, and they moved to Ladysmith, Wis.
Most of Irma's growing-up years were spent on a farm near Ladysmith. She attended elementary school in the community of Port Arthur, and attended Ladysmith High School, graduating in 1938.
Irma began her career with the telephone company in Stanley, Wis., in 1940. She also worked in the traffic department. in Milwaukee during part of World War II (1945-1947). In September 1947, she transferred to Minneapolis, where she worked in the traffic department, plant department and engineering department, from which she retired in April 1972. Irma retired after working 32 years for Ma Bell.
On Dec. 31, 1970, she married Joseph Crane in Minneapolis. In 1976, they moved to the Hinckley, Minn., area, where they built a home. They also lived in the Brainerd, Minn., area and Clarissa, Minn. Irma and Joe spent several winters in Arizona, and moved to Wadena in 1998.
Survivors include sister, Catherine Boss of Appleton, Wis.; stepson, Brian Crane of Loretto, Minn.; as well as step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 34 years, Joseph, as well as her parents; brothers, Stephen Laub and Joseph Laub; sister, Shirley Hovis; and John and Joseph Jancovek, her brothers who died in infancy.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at Wadena Cemetery, with Rev. Jeff Scoggins presiding.
Arrangements were with Schuller Family Funeral Homes in Wadena.
