The funeral service for Irella Woessner of Wadena will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, at the Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena, with Pastor Jill Pawlowski presiding. Irella passed away on Aug. 23, 2012, at the age of 96, under the gentle care of Legacy Hospice, at her home in Wadena.
Irella C. Woessner was born on Jan. 8, 1916 to Benjamin Louis and Floy (Beaver) Woessner in Dawson, N.D.
She filled her days by caring for others. She also took care of her sisters and sisters-in-law until their deaths.
In her younger years, Irella enjoyed taking care of her parakeets. Years ago, she was a familiar face as a clerk at the local Ben Franklin store in Wadena. She loved flowers and interior decorating, and was especially interested in the lives of her nieces and nephews.
Irella was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Floy; brothers, Luke, Louis and Ed; and sisters, Alvina and Irma. She is survived by her nephews, Benjamin (Beverly) Woessner of Charlotte, N.C. and Gary Woessner of White Bear Lake; great-nieces, Brenda (Woessner) Hanson, Tamara (Woessner) Friederichs, Becky (Woessner) Erickson, Bonnie (Woessner) Hardegree; and great-nephews Gerald Woessner and Ben L. Woessner, Jr.
Additionally, Irella will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Shirley Hartjen, Mary Rousslang, Brenda Hanson, Becky Erickson, Tamara Friederichs and Bonnie Hardegree. Serving as pallbearers will be Arnold Hartjen, Derek Henniksen, Grant Henniksen, Michael Friederichs, Gerald Woessner and Ben L. Woessner, Jr.
Burial will be in Wadena Cemetery.
Arrangements are with the Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena, a Schuller Family Funeral Home.
