Investigators probe bank embezzlement allegation
The Todd County Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible case of embezzlement at Star Bank in Bertha.
The sheriff's office confirmed an investigation is underway but said it is not yet resolved, and the results of the probe will not be announced until it is.
It started when representatives of the bank contacted the sheriff's office Saturday, Sept. 10. Since that time, investigators have been reviewing possible evidence.
Harry Wahlquist, chief executive officer at Star Bank, said he could not comment on the case because of the ongoing nature of the investigation.
According to its website, Star Bank was originally founded in 1904 as The First National Bank in Bertha. It has more than $135 million in assets and is serving its customer base throughout central Minnesota with offices in Big Stone, Grant, Todd, Traverse, Wadena, Hennepin and Wright counties.
