Ilene Hildegard Blythe 81, of Menahga, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga.
She was born May 6, 1926, to Syver and Nellie (Hendershot) Ronning in Parkers Prairie. She attended school in the Parkers Prairie Area. She was a homemaker and did bookkeeping. Some of her hobbies were playing bingo and listening to country music. She has three sons, Lester David and Terry Viekko. On May 6, 1961, she married John C. Blythe. He made a career in the Air Force, moving them to California, New York, Minot N.D., and lastly to Alexandria, La., where he retired. John died April 3, 1985. She continued to live in Louisiana until March 2002, when she moved to Menahga to be closer to her family.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 28, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Menahga with the Rev. John Ramsbacher officiating. Active casketbearers included Randy Ronning, Russ Mitlyng, Aaron Chase, Adam Chase, Frank Ronning and Michael Ronning. Interment will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 1, at Alexandria National Cemetery in Pineville, La. Arrangements were entrusted to Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka and Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Alexandria, La.
Survivors include her three sons, Terry (Yvonne) Viekko of El Dorado, Calif., David and Lester Viekko of Sacramento, Calif.; three brothers, Del Roy (Kathryn) Ronning of Menahga, Marland (Chris) Ronning of Maple Grove and Danny (Opal) Ronning of Park Rapids; one aunt, Mildred Moske of Parkers Prairie; and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John, and brother, Robert.
