Icy road crash leads to injuries in county
The Wadena County Sheriff's Office responded to a two-vehicle motor vehicle crash at the intersection of County Roads 2 and 29 on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 21.
Upon the deputy's arrival, he observed two vehicles resting in the south ditch of County Road 2. It was later learned that a southbound 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Teri Duff, 41, of rural Staples slid through the stop sign on County Road 29. Duff's vehicle was broadsided by a westbound 2008 Chevrolet Silverado being driven by Thomas Dunrud, 51, of rural Verndale.
Conditions of both drivers at the time of this press release are unknown. Both drivers were transported to Lakewood Health Systems by Staples Ambulance. The sheriff's office reported road conditions were extremely icy due to a freezing rain event overnight. The Wadena County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the Staples Fire Department, Staples Ambulance and Scott's Southtown Towing.
