Approximately 800 people attended the 21st annual February Festival of Health at M-State, Wadena campus on Feb. 5.

This free event featured 80 exhibits from local agencies promoting health and wellness. In addition, several booths provided free health screenings, such as blood pressure, blood glucose, pulmonary function, body fat analysis and more.

Several booths also provided hands-on learning and an opportunity to become familiar with the many resources available for your family's health, well-being and safety. Popular booths this year included Ask A Provider, the Community Baby Shower booth, sponsored by Tri-County Health Care's Obstetrics department and Germ City. Germ City, a new exhibit this year, was a science-based, educational program aimed at improving the effectiveness and frequency of hand washing behaviors in adults and children.

"The Festival of Health is a popular and well attended event. We are pleased to host a health fair to provide the people of our communities with a variety of resources," said Lisa Reddick, TCHC director of administrative services. "The Festival of Health is a great event to learn about the many resources available in our community. We look forward to next year and the possibility of additional participants."

Entertainment was also part of the festivities, featuring Just For Kix dance groups, and demonstrations by Tae Kwon Do, STOMP MMA and Fair Oaks Lodge's "Fit 4 Life", face paintings by WDC-FCCLA and caricatures by Doug Curtis.

Angie Moen, Deer Creek, was the winner of this year's grand prize, "An Evening Out on the Town," which included a one-night's stay at the AmericInn in Wadena, a $40 gift certificate at The Nite Owl and two movie passes for the Cozy Theatre.
