Hot-shooting Pirates thrash Rockets 64-40

The Verndale Pirates converted on six treys in the first half Monday night en route to a 64-40 shelling of the Rockets.

Jordyn Glenz poured in 18 points for the Pirates while Shania Glenz canned 14 and Sarah Moenkedick scored 10. The Pirates converted on eight of their 17 three-pointers for a 47 percent clip.

Jordyn Glenz led a balanced rebounding effort by the Pirates with eight boards. Moenkedick and Keila Schmitz both grabbed six.

Freshman Jacey Ross was Underwood's top scorer with eight points. Kenzie Aasness added seven.

The Pirates will take a 15-2 overall mark into Thursday's home game with West Central Area.

Monday's loss dropped the Rockets to 3-12.

The Verndale Pirates used a balanced scoring attack to down Ashby 55-34 Thursday in a non-conference duel on the Verndale court.

Art Schluttner's cagers put up 28 points in the first half and 27 in the second en route to their 14th win in 16 games.

Shania Glenz was Verndale's top scorer with 15 points. Sarah Moenkedick and Jordyn Glenz netted 13 and 11 points each. The Pirates shot 50 percent from the field and were 21 of 31 from the free throw line for 68 percent.

Cassandra Jordan pumped in 18 points for the Arrows, who dropped to 2-12.

Jordyn Glenz pulled down 11 of Ashby's 35 rebounds.

Shania Glenz led the way with 17 points Tuesday night as the Pirates shut down Park Region foe Menahga.

Glenz was 4-for-4 on two-point attempts and hit on three of her five three-point attempts.

The Pirates converted on 57 percent of their field goal attempts with a balanced scoring attack that saw eight players contribute points. Sarah Moenkedick and Elyssa Kern combined for 16 points.

Jordyn Glenz came up with nine of Verndale's 37 rebounds and five of their 17 assists.

The Pirates improved to 8-0 in the PRC and 13-2 overall by limiting the Braves to a season-low 21 points. Art Schluttner's Verndale club has been giving up an average of just 40.1 points a game this season.

Hannah Allebach was Menahga's top scorer with five tallies. The Braves shot just 27 percent from the field.

The Braves fell to 4-10 on the season.
